MERRIWETHER LEWIS AND WILLIAM CLARK WITH SEAMAN

Jefferson commissioned Lewis and Clark to explore the newly purchased  Louisiana Purchase in 1804.  Their purpose was to find a route to the Pacific and to befriend the native indian tribes.  No idea what Seaman's job was.  It must have been quite an adventure.  There are lots of books written about it, both fact and historical fiction.

A SECTION OF THE IRON CURTAIN

On our way to Sedalia, by bus.  We stopped at Westminster College in Fulton to see the Winston Churchill Museum.  It turns out the college invited Churchill to speak there in 1946.  The college president was able to get the invite to speak in front of President Truman, a Missourian, who then promised Churchill that he would introduce him if he came to speak.  You can probably see the speech on YouTube.  It's the famous "Iron Curtain" speech warning westerners of the Cold War threat from Russia.  When the Wall came down in 1989 sections of it were sold for $200-250,000.  These particular panels were donated to the college because of the speech.  Churchill's granddaughter was the artist who made the cut out.

Katy Trail from St Charles to Machens

We see a lot of these tree canopies that I find so beautiful.  Sometimes it's like a tunnel.
