Monday, April 15, Day 2 Jamestown

We really had a full day today.  We rode the other half of the Virginia Capitol Trail from Jamestown toward Richmond (41 miles).  Actually we skipped the middle 5 miles which looked to be more of the same and decided to tour historical Jamestown.  I've got lots of photos so I'll let them tell the story.

part of historical Jamestown. Powhatan lodge
The Powhatan Indians helped the original Jamestown settlers 1607

Another lodge.  These lodges were very spacious.  Exteriors were made of woven grasses

Replica of Fort James (Dennis is original)

Dennis watching a reenactment of soldier firing a musket.  I should have taken a picture of the soldier.  Sorry
54 future settlers lived on this 50 x 15 foot deck of the Susan Constant as it sailed the 4 month voyage from England to Jamestown.  It seemed to be a mix of hammocks and cots.  Can't begin to imagine it.
